How to Reduce Your Electricity Bill
If you have been bogged by the enormous electricity bills you have been getting, it is time to take some concrete steps. We want to show you how to reduce your electricity bill by following very simple steps.
This article will list some simple things, how to reduce your electricity bill.
Partial use: Begin with the room you are in while reading this. If you were to leave the room you are in and move to another room or join your family at the dining table, would you just step out of your room without any concern for the electrical appliances in the room? If you never thought of this then stop right now and look around you. Switch off the lights, put your computer on power save even if you would be back in five minutes. Yes, even that will help. Every drop of electricity you save constitutes a environmental impact.
one thing might consider is what constitutes a electronic appliance? Would you switch off the television set, turn off the fan, but not the light bulb? Yes, you need light, but not now when you are leaving the room. One thing you might consider if you leave lights on or maybe your children, install sensing light switches that know when you are in the room or leaving the room, they turn on and off automatically saving you energy. Taking care of these small things will go a long way in reducing the dreaded huge electricity bills.
Smart investments: Make some smart power investments by replacing your incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. These bulbs are a great power-saving investment. I have reduced my own electrical use my a considerable amount by replacing nearly all my light bulbs with energy efficient ones.
Home appliance usage: Most of us complain that the electricity bill touches the sky because of the number of electrical appliances we have at home. However, the electricity bill is not directly proportional to the number of gadgets you use but the way you use them. Let’s see how you can avoid the typical power hungry appliance use. • Use the washing machine only when there is a full load of clothes. • Keep the dish washer from using more electricity my using the air dry mode.
. Install a energy efficient thermostat so you can program your heating and cooling.
• Switch off the computer monitor even when you take a one-minute break. It takes just a second to switch on the monitor again!
Unfortunately you must stick to this way of life if you plan to save money on your electric bill. I hope this has given you a few ideas on how to reduce your electricity bill.

5 Tips to Save Energy Starting Today
Did you know that you can save energy immediately by doing these 5 tips? Energy savings is a state of mind, start doing it on a daily basis and reap the rewards tomorrow. I know these are pretty bold statements, but as an energy consultant, you can change your energy consumption starting today by following these 5 simple tips.
First tip-we heat and cool our homes using a thermostat that probably controls your heat and cooling even when you are away at work or vacation. In the summertime I suggest keeping your air conditioning at 78 degrees, each time you set your thermostat below 78 degrees you increase your energy use 3-4% for each degree. Install ceiling fans which only cost about one cent per hour to run. By using ceiling fans you will feel cooler thus allowing you to set your AC to higher temperature, reap the benefits of a breeze. I have seen ceiling fans on sale at your local home supply store for $50. Heating is the same, try setting your thermostat to 68 degrees, wear warmer clothes to adjust to the slightly lower temperature. If you really want to save money instantly on your heating and cooling may I suggest a programmable thermostat available at any home supply store. They are especially great if your work schedule is the same each week. Why heat and cool while you are away? Set your program to a different setting when you are gone and program to return to a normal program when you are home.
Second tip-one of the biggest users of energy in our household or even business is the hot water heater. The average cost of a hot water heater is usually 1/3 of our total energy cost. The best way to save money on a hot water heater is to use less hot water. Try limiting your shower time to a lesser amount, wash clothes using the cold wash cycle, and set your hot water heater to a lower setting.
Third tip-change your light bulb to either the CFL’s or to the newer LED type. CFL stands for compact fluorescent lamp and LED stands for light emitting diode. My own preference is the LED because they contain no harmful chemicals and are safe to dispose of. The CFL contains mercury and are a hazard if broken. The LED lamp for instance, an 11 watt LED is equal to a 65 watt incandescent bulb, uses 80% less energy with a life span of 35,000 hours. Currently the only draws back to these LED bulbs is cost, but watch the prices decrease as they become popular.
Forth tip-close off rooms you are not using. Why heat and cool areas of your home that you do not use.
Fifth tip-check your home and business for air leaks. Inspect all windows and doors bad weather seals and replace. Use caulking around windows that are leaking air. Replace door seals that are cracked or worn.

Energy You Can Create That Will Help Eliminate Your Utility Bill
Sometimes we are afraid to take steps against utility companies because how they dictate to us what we must pay for electricity. The truth is we have no real choice in the amount they charge us per kilowatt hour, but we can eliminate the amount of kilowatt hours we use by using natural resources all around us. Below I have outlined what these sources are, and steps you can take to get started.
- Solar Power. The sun is a source of energy that has always been around since the beginning of time and will be around long after we are gone. Using the suns energy to make electricity is becoming more and more popular each year. The old adage of supply and demand has lowered the cost of solar panels which makes it more feasible for homeowners to save money on their utility cost. You can also do as I have done and that is building your own solar panels, which will save you a lot of money right up front.
- Wind Power. The wind is a wonderful source of hidden energy that can be used to power a wind turbine. Wind turbines produce electrical power by turning blades that are positioned in the wind. The only requirement for this type power is that you must live in an area that has ample wind year round to produce electricity. This is also another project that if done yourself can save you enough money to save also on your utility cost.
- Magnetic Power. Something that is new to most of us is electricity produced my turning magnets, which when properly built can produce large amounts of electricity from a basically small foot print. This also can be built from parts purchased from your local hardware store. The whole principle revolves around an electric motor starting a magnetic generator which will continue to run when the electric motor is disengaged, continuing to produce electricity. I understand that our utility companies know about this principle but yet deny its istence. I wonder why?
As you can see there are ways of reducing your energy cost. Educating yourself is the first step you need to take to see if these energy examples might be something you would be interested in. sometimes we are blinded my the big conglomerates who continually make us believe that we have to continue to buy from them, but nothing could be further from the truth.
